The House of Representatives will vote on its version of health care legislation (H.R. 3962) in the next few days, so this is one of our last opportunities to make our voices heard.

This bill is so important to protect the benefits of CWA workers and retirees, hold employers accountable, and reduce costs across the entire health care system. We've got to make a real show of support and ensure this bill passes the House with a significant majority.

CWA strongly supports H.R. 3962 because it achieves all of our goals for health care reform. This bill will...

  • NOT tax our benefits
  • let us keep the health care we have
  • require employers to provide coverage
  • reduce health care costs so we can get more at the bargaining table
  • protect retirees
  • stop insurance company abuses and create a public health insurance option

For union members like us, this bill is especially important because it would make sure all employers must contribute to their workers' health care. That means companies would no longer be able to gain an unfair advantage by avoiding their responsibility to provide coverage for their employees.
