Get Involved for Your Union Sisters and Brothers

Currently there is a bill that has passed the Congress called the Employee Free Choice Act (HR 800). It will provide hard working low-wage earners the ability to easily choose whether or not to be represented by a union.

We have seen the dramatic decline of the middle class and greater numbers of African American, Latino and other minorities earning less money, unable to buy their own homes and working extra jobs in order to provide for their families. We have seen unrepresented workers in low paying jobs with companies making larger profits.

If the Employee Free Choice Act passes, low wage earners will gain access to negotiate a contract that can increase their wages, obtain better healthcare benefits and provide a structure that will protect their rights as hard working Americans. It will ensure that large companies comply with the first contract instead of dragging out the process.

I urge everyone to do anything and everything you can to ensure we have at least 60 Senators behind this bill to avoid a filibuster. I also urge you to get Clinton or Obama elected so McCain isn't in the position to veto it.
