Congratulations, We Have a Tentative Agreement!

We are excited to announce that we have reached a 5-year Tentative Agreement (TA) for Healthcare (HX), Research (RX), and Technical (TX) Professionals Units, which will expire in late 2024.

Copies of the TA are available here – HX and RX/TX – and a summary of the gains are below (HX, RX/TX). We are proud that this agreement contains only improvements and that we did not give up anything compared to our previous contract!

This contract would not have been possible without your hard work and sacrifice and that of thousands of UPTE members who struck for the first time. Congratulations!

Information about ratification procedures, voting locations and times will be sent ASAP.

RX/TX SUMMARY

Compensation – 29% increase through 2024, including steps

  • 3% imposed June 2019*
  • 3% effective the pay period following ratification (to be paid within 60 days)**
  • 3% in January 2020
  • 3% in July 2020
  • 3.5% across the board in July 2021
  • 2% Step increase in January 2022***
  • 3% in July 2022
  • 3.5% across the board in July 2023
  • 2% Step increase in January 2024***
  • 3% in July 2024

* The imposition is in place of FY2017 raises, which all BTSAs were excluded from because they received either a non-represented raise before being reclassified to BTSA or from the January 2019 accretion agreement (a step increase + $1250 lump sum)

** This increase is for FY18 raises, which BTSAs at UC Irvine Campus and Santa Barbara are excluded from because they received this before reclassification

*** Steps are ~2% or more and are contingent on being in career position, not on probation, not topped out and satisfactory or better on most recent performance evaluation

UC Benefits

  • NO retirement cuts, NO dangerous pension opt-out, NO cap on benefits!
  • Monthly increases limited to $25/year on Kaiser & Healthnet plans for ALL pay bands

Hours of Work

  • Daily overtime after 8 hours (or after regularly scheduled shift)
  • Daily doubletime after 12 hours

* Applicability to Scene Technicians to be bargained within 30 days

Parking

  • Monthly increase limited to 10% per year at Berkeley, SF, SC
  • Monthly increase limited to $5 at Davis Campus, Merced
  • Monthly increase limited to $10 per year at Davis Health, Irvine Campus, LA, Riverside, SB, SD
  • Monthly increase limited to $12 at Irvine Health

HX SUMMARY

Compensation – 32% increase through 2024, including steps

  • 5% + a step** effective the pay period following ratification, to be paid within 60 days* (or lump sum if at top step)
  • Step increase January 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 (or lump sum if at top step)**
  • 3% in July 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024
  • UCLA titles on experienced-based steps will be placed on the appropriate step at ratification

* Counseling Psychologists will receive 2% + a step at ratification due to receiving 1% + a step + a 3% lump sum in October 2018
* Case Managers at UCSD and UCI Clinical Laboratory Scientists at SD, UCI and UCSF, Nuclear Medicine Technologists at UCSF received at least since September 2018 and will not receive the 5% at ratification

*Equities provided to titles at UCB, UCSC, UCSD, UCLA, UCI, and UCD are IN ADDITION to all increases in the contract, unless otherwise noted

*Equities provided to UCSF at ratification are IN LIEU of the 5% + step at ratification and the January 2020 step
