After hearing from thousands of UPTE members over the course of our contract campaign, UC has agreed to expedited bargaining next week. Our sixteen-strong all-member bargaining team will meet with UC Office of the President’s negotiators from Tuesday, July 16th through Friday the 19th. We hope this indicates that what UC is saying away from the bargaining table – that they are eager to settle a fair contract with their employees – will be in their proposals at the bargaining table.

Emphasize the message from our elected bargaining team that we won’t continue to be a world-class institution without employees who can stay at the University of California. UC employees must have step raises to make a career at UC. Without step raises, we never make more than our first day at work. Cost-of-living raises don’t increase our real wages.
We have moved UC from their regressive proposals two years ago by showing the determination and perseverance of UPTE members to fight for a fair contract that protects our wage standards and strengthens our employment rights.
