UPTE members came out in force to strike on Wednesday, this time in response to UC’s illegal intimidation tactics against AFSCME 3299. This powerful strike sent a strong message that UPTE will not sit by while UC tries to prevent workers from standing up for their rights, and that all UC workers deserve dignity and respect – not illegal treatment.
UPTE has filed a number of ULPs and is considering how to respond, up to and including our own strike. UC executives continue to act with impunity, only encouraged by Peter Chester’s misleading personal letter to Research and Technical members. He is signaling to the many layers of management below him that they are free to continue to trample our rights. It is up to us to show them otherwise!
