| NO CONFIDENCE VOTE IN UC PRESIDENT YUDOF:

| All UC employees are invited to send a strong message about the direction of our university. The UC Union Coalition is holding a statewide vote on the leadership of UC President Mark Yudof. You are invited to cast your vote on President Yudof’s leadership at any campus polling location (see below) or via online absentee ballot (see below). You do not have to be a union member to vote. All staff and faculty, represented or not, are eligible to cast a ballot. On campuses where school is in session, students are encouraged to vote as well. President Yudof created the plan that will require most employees to take 4 to 10% cuts in pay in the form of work furloughs, amounting to $184 million in cost savings. At the same time, President Yudof and the regents quietly approved dozens of executive raises and created several new, highly paid positions. In addition, UC agreed to lend the state nearly $200 million so the state could give it back to UC for construction projects at eight of ten campuses. There is something terribly wrong when new buildings and executive salaries are a higher priority than education and research. UC’s unions continue to advocate for solutions that do not harm the university, such as tapping into UC’s sizable unrestricted cash reserves to temporarily cover any decrease in state funds. |
