(1) Let’s Be Visible: Sticker Up to Support Quality Jobs, Research, Health Care and Education

Let’s get together in every work place and the cyberspace to show support for our UPTE bargaining team. Next Wednesday and Thursday (6/21 & 6/22) everyone is wearing stickers, circulating flyers and putting up posters at work as our team hands thousands of petition signatures to UC negotiators.

The sticker and poster are attached to this email in case you don’t have them yet. You can get printed copies from your zone contact or local UPTE office.

We want to make this event a social media sensation. When you have stickered up, take a selfie and post it with the hashtag #UPTEStrong. Add a quote with your picture here. We can all be in the same place, virtually!

(2) Stop UC From Off-shoring Our Jobs
The “stop offshoring abuse” bill (AB 848 by McCarty) has passed California’s Assembly and now heads to the state’s Senate.

You can help stop UC from offshoring our jobs by sending an email to the members of California’s Senate Education Committee, who will hear the bill on July 5. We have a prepared letter and all the committee’s email is queued up. Just click here, add your information at bottom, and hit “send.”

(3) Save Health Care for 23 Million, Keep Pre-Existing Conditions Protection
The Republicans in Congress want to kill the Affordable Care Act (ACA) without any public scrutiny and input. Call your legislator now to tell them to not cut health care for millions. Here is the number to connect you to your legislator: 866-426-2631. Undoubtedly you have family members and friends who will end up without health care or with greatly reduced care if Congress repeals the ACA.

Don’t delay making this call. Make sure your voice is heard before it is too late.

UPTE continues to work to win even better care with a California single payer plan, current proposed under Senate Bill 562, but we don’t want to lose what we have with the ACA. Call now: 866-426-2631.
