(1) Bargaining Conference Will Set Our Priorities
Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 25, when UPTE will hold our statewide bargaining conference in Sacramento for the RX, TX, and HX units. At the conference, the delegates will evaluate bargaining survey results that have been collected from members. After discussion and debate, delegates will vote on the priorities for our upcoming contract negotiations. The delegates at the bargaining conference will also elect the bargaining team members for the upcoming round of bargaining.

Please contact your local UPTE leadership to run for election as a delegate to this important meeting.

(2) Teamsters Make Progress After Strike
While we do not have exact details yet, UC has offered greater wage increases since UC’s Teamsters local, representing clerical workers, went through with a one-day strike in January. The Teamsters continue to oppose UC’s move to change the pension plan for newly hired employees.

(3) UPTE IT Members From Around the State Oppose Outsourcing at UCSFInformation technology (IT) workers from several campuses protested at the January Regents’ meeting. They spoke eloquently on how the outsourcing undermines their livelihoods and how it will negatively affect data security and integrity at UCSF and throughout the entire UC system. You can watch a video of their testimony here, or read more about the story in the latest Monday Memo.
